Is it me or is Windows screwing with Google links?

I don't know about you but when I search for something I don't like to be forcibly sidetracked. It appears to me that something is happening whenever I use Google for a search and click on a link. I find myself on a page that I did not intend to go to.

When I hit the back button it takes me back a step in my browser history to the page I had intended to go to - most of the time. Sometimes the page I am initially sent to won't let me use the alt-left arrow to back step (I think there is an intermediate page).

It only happens on my Windows laptop. It doesn't seem to happen on our Macs. Sounds fishy to me.

Any other thoughts or experiences?
