Is it me or does DTV Suck
December 28, 2008 by Curt Siters
Here in Asheville Charter provides cable, phone and internet which you can get bundled together at a price that, well, is another story. We have the bundle wich does save us money, however, this article isn’t about that it is about DTV, at least it is about the DTV we get.
When we lived in Seattle “The Switch” was just starting and we enjoyed the package that Comcast gave us for phone, internet and TV - the price was a bit excessive, but it worked rather well. Since our move and crunch time is here for the switch to DTV, DTV seems very flakey.
Is it me? I don’t know, but the picture freezes or drops. The sound freezes or drops. The sound and the picture aren’t always synchronized. It started with just the odd now-and-again occurrence, but as we get closer to February it is happening much more frequently.
For example, last night while watching The News Hour with Jim Lehrer on PBS both the picture and the sound dropped 5 times (that is in an hour folks.) It is getting to be a bit much.
Don’t get me wrong, when it works, for the most part it is good although personally I don’t think the increase in quality is sufficient to warrant a mandatory change - another topic worthy of discussion.
I’d love to hear if any of you are experiencing the same thing.
